Parallels’ SUPERSYMMETRY is Toronto outfit’s fifth studio album. Wholly written and produced by front-woman Holly Dodson, it’s a pristine collection of retro-infused synthpop, as you can tell from the sweet sounds of Stardust. Maybe working with Futurecop back in 2019 has rubbed off on Holly Dodson, because Stardust adds a sprinkling of synthwave to the glossy 80s/90s pop sheen that’s very much part of Parallels’ established and highly sophisticated electronic sound. With its nods to Italo and synthpop, the space-oriented theme of the lyrics, and Dodson’s radiant vocal performance, Stardust is electronic pop at its most joyous and effective. Mastered here at The Social Club in glorious analog.
